Like Prince Rupart

They say what doesn't kill you
Will only make you strong
With all that I have been through
I know that they are wrong

Tenacious and unyielding
I ever forge ahead
Few things as Impenetrable
As the inside of my head

They call me independent
I succeed all on my own
Not by choice, but by necessity
It's the only thing I've known

But monumental surface tension
Leaves you fragile underneath
Barely kept intact with friction
With no outlet for release

Like the infamous Prince Rupart
And the drop that has his name
Head on I am unstoppable
Don't flinch or yeild at pain

But underneath the surface
There's a weakness, there's a flaw
Just like the dainty tail
Of Prince Rupart's famous drop

A thoughtless breach of trust
And the core of me I implodes
The wounded child takes over
It consumes as it explodes

And everything I was
Is only shards upon the floor
You and I will never be again
The way we were before

Cause a wall has been erected
That not even I can cross
Immature form of protection
Branding you a total loss

It's not a choice I'm making
All the chosing came before
By the ones who tore me down
And left me broken on the floor

And I'll pick up all the pieces
Just the way I always do
Deep inside I know I'm broken
And I can't blame that on you

See, the things that almost kill you
And the ones who did you wrong
They only make you rigid
Something rigid can't be strong

Like Price Rupart's Drop
Tossed without thought in its pail
What makes you harder at the head
Makes you weaker at the tail
